Title: Snowy Christmas Morning
Post by: wombatie on October 30, 2011, 01:25:22 am
This is a Mick Shambro pattern it as 233 cuts and it took 11.5 hours cutting time.  It measures 12.5 x 10.5inches.  No spirals were used.  Its cut from 3mm marine ply and the frame I found in a 2nd hand shop, cleaned it up and put a teak stain on it.  Hope you like it.

I love that Marg. I have that same pattern I intend to cut one of these days, but I guarantee it will take me longer than 11.5 hours to cut. Great job.

That's beautiful Marg, being from England I suspect you miss scenes like that.
Be sure and put it in the gallery if you haven't done so already, it deserves it!

I wonder how many will know what that round thing by the mail boxes is.
Don't give it away just post it's initials if you know.  ;D

Beautiful Piece, Marge!

Being a 'spiral' person I cannot imagine doing that with a flat blade....

Simply Fantastic!

Beautiful Work Marg. Do you get snow down under?
BTW, You can still find those MC's at antique stores. People like to paint them up with country scenes.

Well I see we have our fair share of country folks.
From my earliest memories I remember them being used as Water Cans as we had no well and the water we used for drinking and cooking had to be hauled from town. Mom and Dad would load them up on horseback if the roads were too bad to drive in the winter, otherwise they'd load them into our old car and get fresh water that way. If they went horseback they'd hang 2 from the saddle horn one on each side to balance the load. No trotting or galloping with them tied on.
Can you imagine what your legs would look like if you did? We were about 5 miles from town so it was a hard task never looked forward to especially when temperatures could be -0 F!

For you city folks farmers used them to haul milk or cream to sell, back when they only had a few cows to milk, as their daries grew it became a real chore and the tanker wagon, and later tanker truck took over. As said here most of them are used as decorations now.
You just never know what will bring back old memories!

Marg, again beautiful subject and job done so well!
However I still HATE SNOW!
LOL

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments.  No Gabby we don't get any snow down where I live but we do get it in the Australian Alps and people go skiing or sight seeing. The only time I miss snow is at Christmas, I've been here 40 years and I still can't get used to warm/hot Christmas days.  We dress the inside of the house up for the grandkids and my husband LOL at Christmas so this will become part of the decorations.  Yes Gabby I know what a MC is too we see them in antique shops over here and also the painted ones.
