Flying Dutchman Scroll saw Blades are better than Olsen blades.
FD leave very, very little fuzzies on bottom. Olsen leaves some.
Olsen blades (at least the batch I ordered) are mostly twisted a
little on the top. Olsen and FD both cut very good. MY Two Cents.
Danny :+}
P.S. Quality wise my money will go to Flying Dutchman Blades....

I had used a few other blades in the past. But once I was introduced to FD blades by Mr. Good I haven't used anything else. Dan (dgman) has posted he uses Olsen blades on some projects. ;)
-
Yes, I use both. I love the FD UR blades, but sometimes they are too aggressive, so I use Olsen reverse blades when I need a less aggressive blade. Also I can't get the FD SR 2/0 blades to track properly for me so I use The Olsen 2/0r blades for very small cuts.
Neither brands do every thing I need, so I use both for different uses.
As far as fuzzies on the bottom, Both brands do the same for me, so that is not an issue.

I am also a fan of the Flying Dutchman Blades , I've used just about everything thats out there to use and over all the FD Blades are my choice . I give them a two thumbs up ....... ;) ;)

Well, my 3 cents worth is I have used Olsen blades ever since I started makeing saw dust. I have not had any trouble at all. Then again I have never tryed FD blades.

I use both Olsen and FD's; they both work well. The only problem I have with FD blades is the unusual amount of breakage i experience with Ultra #3's.
They are breaking about 1/4" below the top clamp, so i don't think it has anything to do with the clamps. i don't have that problem with the equivalent size Olsen blades. I doubt that I break more than a couple Olsen's a year, any size.

I just received another order of FD's from Mike today. The only olsens I really prefer are the pgt series when a #5 #7 or #9 are appropriate due to the thickness of the wood. The pgts are aggressive, clean cutting and track quite well, but the aren't much good for real fine or detail work.
-
I don't see much difference between Flying Dutchman UR and Olson Platinum Reverse tooth blades. I think the flying dutchman 2/0 NS spiral is superior to the olson spiral. For really thick wood, it's hard to beat the PGT blades by olson. They are not very good for detail or sharp turns, but boy will they go through 2" stock.

I only use Olsen blades. I like FD, but they were more inconsistent with their idiosyncrasies when I'd switch from one blade to the next, while in the middle of a project.
???
I hope that makes sense.

Wow. When I started scrolling I used Olson #2 reverse all the time. never had a problem with them with the exception they were fuzzier than the FDR#3's that I now use. I do not have a problem with the blades at all. If they break or slip, it is that something has been changed on the machine and not the blade. Very rarely does a blade break for me or track wrong. I really like them. I only use the Olson's when my niece comes over.

I use Flying Dutchmen blades 80% of the time. I hardly ever go above a #5 and use mainly the SR blades. When I do go larger I use the #7 or #9 PGT from Olsen. The wider kerf is great for children's puzzles and the Olsen blades handle 1" or above wood the best for me.
Both are excellent blades. However, in my opinion, you cannot beat the control you get with the FD's and nothing goes through wood like a new FD.
Barry
PS: I have never used any other brands of blades.

That's what I do too. I use FD-P for big stacks - also nice!
Like Dan I can't get the SR #2/0 to work - I might try with some more tension but here the Olsen is another dimension.

My blade of choice is 'what works for the job'!
Mostly FD NS 2/0 for my portraits and Polar for the long straight cuts. Judy Hunter told me about Galaxy spirals and I am trying them now BUT I find them TOO aggressive for the tiny detail cuts. But I am not ruling them out just yet. The Galaxy 2/0 spirals seem to leave a finer kerf than the comparable FD 2/0's.

I have try the FD blades FD -SR #3 blades and the FD-UR #3 blades they both burn the wood and don't cut all that good. I been using the oldson blades the speedmatch #3 and #5. I'm not going to order the FD blades I've talk to mike and steve about this as well. then again it could be a bad batch of blades...
