Title: Christmas Ornaments 2
Post by: Dawie on October 20, 2011, 05:31:14 am
Just finished the rest of Sheila's great ornaments. Still undecided on the final finish, any suggestions, they're made from birch plywood. I loved making these, it's fun more will surely follow. My nephew wants me to paint them silver and gold, not really to keen on painting them.

Nice job David. I have to agree with your nephew, a coat of silver or gold paint would make them nice. Also, try using some contrasting hardwoods next time or something like padauk. Then you may not event need to add a finish.

Hey David, They look great! I am not a fan of painting, but I think silver and gold would be nice. Then spray on some spray glitter.

Looking great David.  Sometimes natural is the way to go and others not... it really is up to you.  Thanks for sharing them with us.

In my neck of the woods hard wood is a very rare commodity especially thinner wood, I really need to rely on the plywood I can get and the odd occasion when something else is on offer grab hold of it.
So will have to us my imagination, maybe stain the wood next time round with different stains to get another effect.

Nice ides though.

David you can probably find a craft store that sells glitter paint in spray cans, both gold and silver, they may even have others I don't know. I used it on the cutting 'It Moose Be Love" amd it made the sky come alive. A contrasting or background color that makes it POP out would work well too. Worth a try.
