Title: My favorite poem. "Richest Man On Earth" By Jack Walther Enjoy, Gabby
Post by: Gabby on September 09, 2011, 04:33:25 am
RICHEST MAN ON EARTH

I am part of this range of waving grass,
part of the evening breeze,
the gentle rains that pass.
I am the snows on the mountain
that cause the streams to flow
spreading out on the valley
urging the grass to grow.

The coyote that howls in the evening
or the hoot owl in the wood.
I sense them stir within my soul
deep down it feels good.

With this all a part of me
I can never be alone...

I am the richest man on earth,
for all this I own.

I came across this years ago, and it struck a chord. It expresses my deep down feelings when I am in Gods great out of doors.
No matter if it's Pampa, Texas, Flagstaff, AZ, the Redwoods of CA, or the Oregon shores. At sea watching a whale leaping, and leaping across our path. Or so many other places I've traveled in these 69 + years.
Each of us have these favored moments, I just thought I'd share a few of mine.

Our friends make us rich!

Thanks Ol' Timer!

I was once asked by a pastor where I was the previous Sunday. I said, "Outdoors".
He replied, "Oh, chasing the white ball?"
I said, " NO, I was sitting under a tree by the Bourbese River watching the sun come up and I felt a lot closer to my Maker than I do while sitting in a stuffy church listening to a sermon."

He replied, "Oh how I wish I had been with you!"

'nuff said!

Gabby what do you know about Pampa?  My family is from Borger, TX.

Chief I was only there for a short time hauling oil field equipment and pipe. When the truck blew a piston over by Shamrock coming back from OK, I was out of a job, hauled to Phillips, Borger and the area, but don't really remember it well.
It was mostly nearly flat and windy. I got out of there just in time, big twister trashed Pampa, this was in the early 1970's.
I had more but I bumped the wrong key and lost all I wrote.
Sorry I don't have more on the panhandle area.

Dan two six
When I walk in the woods here I pack Iron.
Thanks to the Bambi huggers the Cougar and Bear populations have skyrocketed.
Hmm where have I heard that term before?
They are getting less afraid of humans, and don't run and hide like they do when hunted.
Wish I still had my Bear Dog.
