Title: Finishing
Post by: geneVG on September 05, 2011, 10:05:39 am
I found this Minwax Polyurethane in a spray can and it works great.  No mesh, no clean up, just spray and let dry.  My question is.  After the piece dryes is there a wax that I can use to add a high gloss shine to it?

Gene, personally, I don't like a high gloss on my projects. I like a satin or semi gloss look. If you are using a gloss ploy, that should be enough to give you a high gloss. wax will only dull the finish. If you want a glossier finish, you will need polishing wheels and compounds to polish it. These wheels and compounds are used by turners who like a high polish on their turnings. If you want to go to that extreme, let me know and I will send you in that direction.

Thanks Dan, but I don't think I want to go that way.  Right now I have a good high gloss finish.  I think I'll just use what I have and call it good.  As  soon as I get it together, I will post it in the brag section.  Right now I have something else I am going to post there.  Thanks again for the info Dan.
