Title: Intarsia Break
Post by: Intarsia92 on August 22, 2011, 05:40:02 pm
Every once in a while I need a break from working on Intarsias so I take on other projects.

Here are a couple of things I made for one of my Grandson's bedroom: a Desk and a Computer Workstation;

The computer one has a large slide out keyboard shelf and the bottom two drawer fronts are actually one piece. It covers the slide out shelf that holds the printer.  The piece is mounted on casters so it's easy to move for accessing cables on the back side.

My Daughter had 1/4" tempered glass cut to cover the tops of both pieces.

Hey Al they look great.
What wood did you use for the PC Desk?
Is it your own design?

Hey Gabby, I used all solid Oak and 3/4" Oak Plywood.  and, yes it my design, made to fit the areas he had available. Both pieces were made using standard cabinet construction methods, and using pocket hole screws and glue for all connections.  They were finished. using Min-Wax Golden Oak stain with three coats of Min-Wax, Satin, Polyurethane.

Thanks for the complements!  I was blessed with a father that was a Jack of all trades and a Master at all of them and growing up he made sure I got my hands dirty right alongside of him. He was a great teacher that allowed me to learn from the mistakes I made.
