Title: NYCTPD
Post by: woodyd on August 14, 2011, 09:34:41 pm
Here's my latest. Been working on it for quite a while, trying to get the design just right. Next up, done in oak.

Next cut should be even better, as the blades I really needed to cut with, and ordered will be here tomorrow or Tuesday

Danny,
I'm not a designer by trade, however with the right graphics programs and looking to books for ideas, I've been able to come up witnh designs as needed.

I have to admit, that I got inspiration to make a pattern for this shield after I saw a shield cut by a fellow NY Police Officer. I retired from the NYC Transit Police Department which prior to it's merge into the NYC Police Department in 1996 was a separate police department in NY. I collected clip art of eagles, the NYC seal and police shield and went to making a pattern. Yes, this was my police shield. Hoping others will want one now too.

I found this site after an extensive search. He may have other department patches
besides Arizona.
I finally found my old patch there. I may try and make a plaque from it. Like your idea!

With your skill, that won't be a problem. Go for it.

Not too bad anymore on the cutting end of it but, not much speed either. LOL
Design is a real challenge!
Just about finished with a trivet I'm making for the wife, I'll post it in a day or two, it IS my own design.
