Excerpt from a recent post by Russ, our mod:
"It would be a good idea to talk to Mike before ordering blades, so you don't end up with blades you may never use."
Started me thinking (DANGEROUS!)
Do I have something I bought and then decided I liked something else better?
Why should it lay in a box or drawer and go to waste?
There are other resources for 'swapping' or even passing on things we don't need, i.e., Freecycle, Reuseit, etc.
Why couldn't 'scrollers' do the same thing? Especially with small things like BLADES!
Any thoughts on how we might accomplish this helpful project?
I told you me thinking is DANGEROUS!!!

Obviously, this is ultimately up to Steve...I hope I'm not stepping on his toes by commenting...I think the idea and the intent are both good...A lot of us might benefit from it...I've been trying to figure out what to do with my old saw after I eventually upgrade...It works great, but it's just not what I need anymore...As an alternative to selling, maybe someone might have something to trade for it.
Anyway...I think it would need a few crystal clear ground rules in order to maintain its intended purpose...If not properly managed, I can see where it might become commercialized to the point that every chucklehead out there will be trying to use it to sell their Amway and what-not...If the content remains focused, and people are held accountable, then I think it could work.

This really is a neat idea. I doubt it's something I could manage but I'll do some research and see what would be involved.

Couldn't it be just another topic on the forum? Just a place you could post something you have and want to swap. Then, if there was someone interested they could pm you or email ya to work out the details and the responsibility would be left between the two traders. If you went this way, Steve, it seems like the hardest part would be writing the disclaimer that would wash your hands of being liable for the deliveries of the promised goods. Once you had that written, you could just slap it on top of the section in the form of a sticky thread.
Just an idea...

Okay guys, the Swap Shop forum is added. This is a test to see how it goes. I'm a little nervous about this one but hopefully it will work out. Thanks for the idea.
