After a bit of touch and go the insurance company finally gave in and my Cochlear Implant is scheduled for September 30th at 7:30 a.m.
Dr. says it should just be an overniter in the hospital and about a week to 10 days for the wound to heal completely and then a week for the swelling to go down around the hole in my skull.
THEN the tough part kicks in when they actually attach the device and turn it on.
Lots of return trips to the Dr. to have the circuitry fine tuned! Plus 'learning' period for my ol' brain to recognize the signals and interpret them correctly.
Exciting and somewhat scary!
But I'm getting LOTS of support from relatives, friends and tons of folks I don't even know on the Cochlear website!

We will all be pulling for you Ed! I'm sure it will work out great.

I hope you still have my friend Cliff's e mail address I'm sure he will be pulling for you too, and would like to hear (no pun intended) from you.
If not let me know and I'll get it to you if you want it.

SO Gb is this for just one ear or are you def in both and for how long have you been Because this may very well be the most scariest road you have ever went down to hear things around you for the first time and all... As I said before you will be on our prayer list at Church.
