Title: First jewelry attempts
Post by: tux_linux on July 17, 2011, 11:08:27 am
Hey!

It's raining again - and I had some more time to go to the wood shop. This time I tried a bit of jewelry, which I had on my list since quite some time.

Number 1 is cut from 1/4" walnut, 4" width and 2.5" high.

The others are 1/4" beech plywood, 2.5" x 1.75".

The hearts might need one more cutout in the right bottom ection to give the heart there more shape.

Thanks. I will try some more and need to find out about routing the frame. I have a big cabinetmaker's router with table but I'm not willing to hold this little pieces on to that. I need my fingers.

I love these pieces. You did a really greay job. There are router bits for dremel tools that can work for small pieces like this, I prefer to sand my edges to shape. I love making jewelry!

for routing the edge of little pieces I have the router that fits a dremel tool.  works great.  All three look good.

thanks Judy & Katie,

I will check my hardware store for Dremel router bits. I have one but literally use it.
Might be a good idea to bring that one back up.

EDIT: I checked ebay this night and found a good priced Dremel router table and a corresponding router bit.  :)

thanks Frank.
The walnut one is really tiny and difficult to cut. I used a #1 but will try a #2/0 next time. Maybe I'll have to work on the pattern a bit to give it more stability.
