Post by: dgman on June 28, 2011, 11:04:38 am
Made from 1/2" mystery wood (looks and smells like Rosewood). Cut with FD UR3 blades.

Hey Dan....Now your choice of wood and your Professional ability to finish a project on this one is Perfect.  I would Love to make one if I only had a Ipad or is it Ipod?  Anyway Great job Dan....  Danny  :+}

Hey Danny, The finish is just a 50/50 mix of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits, with a topcoat of semi gloss spray lacquer. Then buffed with a piece of brown paper from a grocery bag!

Hi Dan....I have been using your way of using a crumbled up brown paper bag for sanding between top coats and also buffing afterwards.  Great idea.  Is this YOUR original idea?  Danny  :+}

No, not my idea. I have been woodworking for close to twenty years and have been a member of a very large woodworking club. Plus reading a lot of books and of course magazines and forums. Don't remember where I got the idea. I don't crumble the paper though, I use a folded piece much like a piece of sandpaper.
