I am in withdrawal symptoms and my saw only packed in on Tues. a bearing has caved in by the looks of it as a few ball bearings fell out of the back, didn't last long as I have only had it for 12 months

Jimbo can you get at the bearing?
Chances are you can find a replacement at your local hardware or NAPA auto parts. Especially if you can take the broken part with you, Should be a part number on it some where. It Wouldn't hurt to try if you are unable to get a replacement from the manufacturer.
I hope this helps,

What a bummer Jimbo. Yours is the first Excalibur EX21 that I have heard of having this problem! Hope you can get it serviced there in New Zealand!

It has gone back to the NZ distributors they had it picked up the same day, it has to go to Auckland some 700km they should have it by now, they said they have had several Excalibur's that have done the same thing so will have to wait to hear from them, it is still under warranty so it wont cost it is just the inconvenience of not having it

a breakdown, that's really bad luck. good thing you've still got warranty.
do you have a second saw (the old one) ?
let's hope it's quickly repaired.

That's why I have two saws. Since I got the second one neither of them has broken down.. Murphy's law......

The flip side of that is they will both break! Don't tempt Mr. Murphy!
