Thanks Russ does any one know how much area it would cover at 1/4" thick? 2 ounces sounds pretty small. That's what they show it comes in on Amazon. I was thinking it might look good on the moose plaque I'm working on, but there are some pretty good sized areas to fill. Might work good for the lettering though.
Thanks,
Gabby

i don't think it woild go that far on 1/4" Gabby i did 2 coaster sets now and used almost 1/2 a block and thats only 1/8" thick.

That sounds like it might do the lettering, I'd probably get 2 to be safe. but the large cut outs around the moose would take a lot more and would make it pretty expensive too.
(my costs it's a gift)
I think I'll have to come up with something else perhaps just a backing.
While we are on the subject is there a problem of cleanup if you get it on the front surface before it is sealed and finished? I've never seen this stuff or knew what it was until now!
Thanks,
Gabby

Gabby, they also sel the stuff at craft stores. If you have one near by you can ask for fimo or polymer clay. Steve did a video on it once.
it starts as a clay then you bake it to cure it. After it cools you can sand and finish like normal. The clay can be sanded really smooth, I have used poly and laquer as finishes. One of the times I did it, I noticed that the dust really stuck into the wood around it (i think it was pink clay on maple, so it was noticeable) I sprayed it with the air hose and most of it went away.
