I visit several other sites, But this is where I call home!
Thanks to Steve Good for starting this forum and to Russ for keeping us in control.

Gabby, that is a lesson I try to teach my students as well. Every now and then they will talk about teachers being old. My middle school kids can't believe that most of the other teachers are old enough to be my parents. It is funny/sad to hear them talk.
A couple of my co-workers and I have an on going debate about which is better youth or retirement.

One is too soon gone before you really appreciate it, and the other, all depends.
Whoops I made a pun.
LOL

Having only recently joined I was a bit surprised to find the forum is just coming up to it's FIRST birthday!

I am a moderator/admin on several forums and this place feels way more established than a mere 12 months and that's down to the maturity, levelheadedness and friendliness of it's members. Bravo to all of you who have helped to make it this way and long may it continue.

This place is like a breath of fresh air to me after some of the issues we have been dealing with this week on one of the forums I moderate on. Talk about a baby throwing it's toys out of the stroller because thing aren't going it's way! SHEESH!!! At least I got to make some sawdust tonight...lol.

Larry I think a lot has to do with the format here compared to other forums, this one is user friendly and more personal, where the others are so cold and impersonal, this one is an extension of our families.
Thanks to Steve's good will, and the care the moderators use as well. There is NO FLAMING here which is a real treat. NO TROLLS either that I know of. I suspect Steve or Russ would show them the door in a hurry as it should be.

I agree with what said by all, I too belong to other forums and find that they are no match to this forum. This is the only site around that allows you to download free patterns created by our founder Steve Good and believe me they are a good mix. I have made many of them so in ending I say Thank you "STEVE"
my hat is off to you and also a shout out and a BIG Thank You to the Moderators as well.

This was my first experience with a forum.  I would never have believed you could feel so close to people you have never seen.  I feel very fortunate to have found a group of "like minded" people to share with.  Whether sharing ideas or swapping bull, I can't wait to see what's new with you guys.  Thanks to all for a very enjoyable year.

I will agree with GB on this subject I know if I don't get on here at least once a day and check the new post out I Start to jones for my Forum fix till I get it.
 So HUGS to ALL.....

@Katie(Mrs N) Please Understand this is not meant to be rude or wrong,
When I was in middle school we didn't have teachers that look anywhere near as good as you when I went to school to going age was 40-60's and up My wood shop teacher on top of being a man was in his late 50's so if any of my teachers looked anything like you I would still be in school.....

I didn't see this thread until this morning, but I had a couple of drinks last night anyway!  Maker's 46, good bourbon!  Congratulations and appreciation to Steve.  I check other woodworking sites as well, but this one is home and gets checked more than the others combined.

I didn't join in to this forum until April 19, 2010.
I don't post as much as some folks but, I don't think that I have missed more than 4 days (vacation time) of checking in over the last year. And, I usually check in 3 or 4 times a day at that.
Time sure flies when your having FUN!!!
Congrats and a big THANK YOU to Steve and all the mods.

I could not have said it any better than kimb. I've only been a member for about 3 or 4 weeks now and have learned more about scrollsawing here in a very short time than anywhere else. There's no griping and only good wishes. I thank Steve, Russ and everyone else here for that. Though I didn't have a drink to celebrate yesterday, me thinks I'll have 1 or 2 today. And after the saw gets turned off for the day, I may even have more. Cheers everyone!!!

Mike

Happy Anniversary... Not much that I can add to what everyone else has stated. I also belong to other fourms but I certainly do not visit them as often as I do this one. I used to sit back and read all of the comments etc. and not say too much but with the kind of kinship felt here I am a bit more inclined to jump in and be involved. It really doesn't matter if you say a little or a lot or nothing at all,you are made to feel welcome. Steve and Russ are great, they are like the crust and we are like the pie filling..hehe...
