Title: Steve's Padlock
Post by: crusty59 on April 06, 2011, 11:34:08 am
I cut this from red oak. It was a fun project. I am going to try cutting a chain for it.

Great looking lock. I cut that myself and had a little trouble with the locking bar. I cut several out of different wood and most kept breaking when I would push it closed. So after making one that worked pretty well I put it in and just use the key to open it and close it. NO pressure on the locking bar when playing with it. Mostly it just sits on the shelf. Did you have any problems with the oak locking bar?

I didn't have any problems. I did a little sanding to make it work right, but that was it. I had debated making the locking bar out of plywood. I think I would recommend that. I think it's just a good conversation piece anyway. Thanks everyone.
