Yes, I AM a huge Boston Bruins fan...
I decided that I wanted to make a wooden logo for my wall, so I did... It measures 12" and I used a very old wooden shelf (poplar i think?) for the big circles and most of the spokes. Pine was used for the B and the white is just Baltic Birch. I used watered acrylic paint and then used a water based varnish to finish it.
I'm not sure if this is classed as Intarsia or not, I did a lot of rounding but where it is a logo I didn't think that shaping would work well, but pieces are at different heights. Phew, what fun...

Ok. I'm adding a link to photobucket so you all can have a look...

First off, great job!! That came out awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Secondly, in a different post I asked about posting a pic of a team logo I did and Russ and GB said not to. I'm interested in seeing what they say about this.
-
Well, It looks like Russ deleted the picture in the original post. He hasn't caught the second one yet.
Bruce, that is a copyrighted logo and can not be posted here as Steve is responsible and subject to lawsuits!
-
Glad I got to see it good job, Don't hit him too hard Russ

Bruce,
Sports logo's are copyrighted and cannot be posted on the forum.
Dan is right on both counts, I deleted it.
Been a little hard to get on the forum do to weather, no power, or I would have deleted the second one sooner.
-
I saw it! Nice work Bruce!!!
-
Russ, I apologize for posting the picture(twice). Just so caught up in the project and wanted to show it off and never thought about the copyright issue. It's good to see that you are on your toes... my bad.... Thank you all for your comments...

That's funny, as an author (please feel free to buy my books!) I should have been conscious of the copyright thing and totally spaced it because I was so impressed with the woodworking.

Bill, What Books???
-
I wrote Thy Brother's Keeper, Special Operations Squad, The Survivors, and The Dark One. I edited an anthology called New Traditions in Terror. I'm a terrible author, but I enjoyed it. Before anyone says anything, I'm not being humble. Dean Koontz said, "You have great ideas, but your writing sucks." :D
I've moved on since then and haven't written in about 5 years.

Bill, the main thing is that you ENJOYED it. As long as you take pleasure in doing it, it's not about the money, why worry about how someone else precieves it.
Bruce ;D
-
I agree, Bruce, but if people don't like your writing, they don't buy your books, and publishers won't touch you.

Probably the same thing is true of scrolling or any other endeavor.
Now I know why none of my turnings or rustic furniture didn't sell.
Oh woe is me. I enjoyed doing it any way, so there! Sticks out tongue :P
LOL

bluesuede, Why don't you open up a Photobucket account and post your picture there. Then put a link to the picture and we can go see your Intarsia/Logo. :)
-
Ok Russ, I will do that and post the link, guess I never really thought about... The link is in my first post...Thanks...

Bruce, IMHO that is a masterpiece. I'm a 50 year hockey lover and wish I had your talent to make a Canadiens logo like that. And you say this is your first intarsia piece. WOW. You knocked my socks off with that one. Thanks for sharing. BTW - Looks like we'll see you in the 1st round.
-
Very nice. I'm sure you will enjoy having it over your TV. Or wherever.

Shadow, I think that if you put your mind to it, you can do it...
