I was deeply saddened by Steve's blog entry this morning. I feel for this grieving mother and wish there was something we could do for her.
If you haven't read it yet, go over to Steve's blog www.scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com

Hi Dan,
I just read the post and my heart is so heavy. What a loss. I agree, I wish there is something we could do.

Would it be possible to make some of the plaques for the unit and present them in his name?
-
The problem is Steve does not know who she is!

I called my husband in to read it. We cried for this mother.

Steve must have her email. If she can send him an address to send directly to the troups in her name, we could start the ball rolling.

I was also touched by the story. We can probably find out the information we need to make plaques for the unit but I think right now the family needs a little time to deal (grieve) with their loss. Let's give it some time and then we can ask Steve to contact the mother. :)

I have reached out to her but have not received a reply back. I'm sure she is busy with family and arrangements. If I get more information I plan to do something for the family.
I receive a lot of email. Sometimes I hear from people having medical problems and other bad events. They are always hard to read but this one kicked me right in the gut. I could not work on the blog yesterday. I just needed to get away from it for a while. I'm not sure why it hit me so hard but it did.

I agree with Russ, We need to give the family some time.
Thanks Steve for letting us know about this. It only shows that we as a community are a compassionate group, always willing to help someone in need.
Steve, If and when you hear from her, please let us help, or at least tell her of our support.

Being the Mother of a disabled vet, I can say yes the Mother of this great soldier will need a while to recover. We can lift her in prayer. Then when time comes and we get address for the troups we can make an effort to send them a memorial for her.. Just my thoughts.. Tears still streaming... Sheila
