Title: Not just Salty Ole Sailors

Well I have been in the Navy for over 19 years and this is the only real job I have ever had.  I have worked my way up through the ranks and achieved what only 1 out of every 100 people that join the Navy achieve, thats becoming a Chief Petty Officer. 
I applied for a Warrant Officer commissioning program and the results came out Friday, unfortunately my name was not on the list.  My wife and I have been talking since we moved to WA in Nov about retiring up here.  Well my mind is made up now to retire.  With this thought I visited a website that is run by a retired Master Chief for Chiefs.  This article is the most heart melting and eye watering article I have ever read.  Chiefs are known for being hard, unemotional unless angered, and just plain ole' mean.  Well this shows the softer side and the brother hood we share no matter what.

What a touching story!  Really goes to show the sense of "family" the military has!

Chief, get ready for some big changes once you retire!  Almost 6 years ago, I retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant after 22 years, and returned home to the coast of Maine.  Entered the civilian work force a few months after retiring, and quickly was reminded of why I chose to stay in the military for all those years.  What a bunch of whining, complaining, unmotivated, unreliable, back stabbing, cry-babies most of the people I work with are!  Nothing like the troops I worked with, and I'm sure nothing like the sailors you're used to working with either!  Good luck after your retirement, and thanks for serving!!!
