Dawie, February 2 is Groundhog Day. There's even a designated groundhog up in Pennsylvania, named Punxsutawney Phil. Tradition says if the groundhog comes out of his den in the morning and sees the shadow, it scares him and he returns to the den (to hibernate I guess) for another six weeks which means there will be six more weeks of winter.
OTOH, if it is cloudy outside and there's no shadow to scare him, he stays out, indicating an early spring.
This year it was cloudy so we all want to see the weather warm up sooner rather than later. When it doesn't, we blame the groundhog for being a dirty liar!
Makes perfect sense, right? Um, right? LOL

Sorry Y'all but if you look on your calendar (American) there will always be six more weeks of winter (find the first day of Spring) count back to Feb 2 and it will be 6 weeks (give or take a day or two.

Mother Nature always decides how long and how hard of a winter we have. Not a Ground Hog named Punxsutawney Phil. 8)
