This was a disaster, my 5th nativity cross and no problems until this one I was trying to do too many things at once and left the belt sander on turned around and whack the corner of the cross hit the belt and this is the result, one piece is missing but there is to many chips on the breaks to repair. oh well 2 hour work on the saw down the gurgler

Jimbo...don't panic!
Cut loose all the pieces and sell them as parts of a Nativity SET!
Even if you have to glue a little base plate on them!

Oeps Jimbo! I think GB idea is great.

Oh boy, can I relate. I should have taken pictures of my train wreck. G.B. had a creative idea.

Not being 'creative'....
Just too damn 'tight' to throw that much cutting into the "Designer Firewood Box"!
Pieces would make a nice 'small gift' for someone next Christmas, maybe like for an "ORNAMENT EXCHANGE"

It's very discouraging when it happens Jimbo, I am sure we have all been there, but I think GB has a solution.

Yes, it does happen to all of us at one time or another. It really is discouraging when that happens. Do not let it throw you.

Oh well Jimbo, been there done that.
Like GB said it can be saved, but in a different way.
Is that Cedar, thought it was Rimu but the grain looks wrong.

I think that parts of your cross can be salvaged like what has been suggested. I just Shattered a cross sanding it on the mop. Mine was a lot simpler and was only good for toothpicks Oh Well stuff happens ;D

It is Jarra Merlin the last piece I had that size, one of the ones on the brag post is rimu and the other Jarra, I will put it one side and think about what I do with the pieces

Man thats tough Jimbo. When I was cutting projects for my December Wood Art show I knocked over my drying rack. Four projects crashed onto the ground. Two completely destroyed, one was salvaged, and the forth is sitting on my bench as a reminder!

Could you get all parts?
Glue them. Sand them firmly afterwards. Apply oil. Nobody will notice.

It's my turn:
The front fretwork from the small Shelf by Steve:
Clamped it for gluing to the back piece - clamp snapped and I could see the parts fly..
Managed to save the rest - will still look good without the front piece.

I lost one piece of the cross but also there was a few bits chipped off at the breaks so gluing was not an option
