Title: saw vs. laser
Post by: Bill P on January 14, 2011, 12:13:19 pm
I'm working on a military plaque for a gentleman who's going to be awarded his Naval Aviator wings.  I took the center of the plaque to work today to show some of my ex-Navy co-workers, and they said it was cut with a laser, not a saw.

Probably the best compliment I've received regarding my work.

Show Off!!!

Great Approval rating!

My oldest son did that when I gave him an oak key fob I did for him!

Now sew the buttons back on your shirt and get busy!

So, you're sayin' you actually did use a saw and not a laser?  JK  That's an awesome compliment
Closest I came was my sister commenting on the hummingbird plaque I made for my mother for Christmas.  She thought I bought it.

Show us some pics!!! :D

It's always a great compliment when accused of using a laser. At the show I did in December, I was asked several times if done on a laser. I showed then my name badge, which was done on a laser, to show then how the edges were burnt from the laser.

Hey, Maine, here's the pic of the piece I took in to work.  It's not going to be part of the plaque because the final piece will be oak on the outside, then walnut, and finally oak on the inside.  The stack-cutting done to accomplish this leaves a "negative" product, which I'll display in my booth as a sample.

After seeing the picture posted, I'm not sure why the guy at work said what he did.  I see way too many mistakes.  I'm recutting for the order.

Well done, Bill. Very good scrolling.  It's always nice to hear people praise your work.  I already have some people wanting to order name ornaments for their Christmas tree next December after seeing the ones I did for our tree and my kids trees.

Keep on scrolling. 8)
