Title: Dead Saw
Post by: mrsn on December 19, 2010, 06:46:25 pm
I think I killed my scroll saw...It is a sad day in Minnesota.
I have my husband looking at it now, he brought it back to life once before. I am hoping that he can do it again.
This will teach me to procrastinate, I still had a couple of Christmas presents to finish.

What kind of saw do you have, and what is the problem? Maybe we can help.

That's Dan....'circling the wagons'!

We're here and some of us know how these things work so let us know what you are experiencing!

Feels like the bugler is sounding "Charge"!

I had a scroll saw that died and went to scroll saw heaven, I don't miss it though as I had a new one on order before its demise

Well the positive thoughts of Dan and GrayBeard paid off, it works again!!!!
Well we had the whole saw apart. There is a surprising amount of circuit boards and such in the saw. My husband checked all the wires for electricity, and he did find one connection that was a little loose. Nothing was burned out or smoking. He thinks that a thermal break may have been over heating in addition to the loose wire. But when he plugged it in to test it, it worked! He even made the blower work better while he had it apart.

I did have a Dewalt on my Christmas list just in case, but it isn't quite in the budget this year. Maybe by the time my birthday rolls around.

Well back to making sawdust!
