That's cool!  Do you get any squirrels that partake in your hospitality?

I cut the bottom off of a plastic chunky peanut butter jar, cut and bend a hanger to hold it and run a dowel thru for the birds to sit on. It hangs from a stand holding the other seed feeders. As it empties, they go inside and really clean it out.

Pat...

Do you also have an "upside down" suet feeder for the woodpeckers and nuthatches?

It is a riot to watch them fly up to it and turn upside down to land!

Is this a plan that you thought of or something you found?  I would like to make a few of these...could you send a link to the plan or post a picture of the dimensions?  Nothing fancy...just some rough measurements or diagram?

Thanks!!

I didn't know birds liked peanut butter, either.  I make bird and squirrel feeders for my step-mom all the time.  I need to give this one a try.

Greybeard,

Our suet feeder (little cage) hangs at an angle, almost upside down. Foils the starlings; they don't like hanging underneath to eat. And the little dowel in the peanut butter is too short for them to sit on. Our pole is hooked to a fence charger, so no squirrels. And there are a lot of them, with 2 acres of oak and walnut.

OK, I didn't realize birds liked peanut butter either, but I like the idea. Thanks for the pic.

I made the plan myself.
the first prototype was made of plywood only, but it I didn't like it so much.
then I made the one of the first pictures.

I add the plan, and it's metric and in dutch ::)...... good luck

Does the peanut butter spoil or freeze or anything like that?

My grandmother once had an orange out for the birds that sat too long and started to soil and ferment. She had a couple of drunk birds for a while.

there is so much oil in the peanut butter that it will not freeze very fast.
I don't think it spoils due to the cold.
Mine is a bit to close to the house so they come now and then.
I heard story's from people who need to replace the jar every two weeks!
