I was checking out the sand-flee at woodcraft tonight and I noticed a link to click on if you are a California resident (proposition 65). I understand the warnings about the dust, we all know we should wear dust mask, but I was a little concerned when I read the electrical cords contain chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm, wash hands after handling. I was just wondering what your thoughts were on this.

first time i've heard this. if that is the case there is going to be a lot of sick people in the world.

California requires warnings on all products that contain carcinogens and such. Electrical cords contain a small amount of lead, I assume to make them pliable.
If you walk into a woodworking store in California, you will see warning labels on just about everything in the store.

You should use a dust extractor when using sanding machines as well as using a dust mask and for added safety a wall extractor as well

Thanks Dgman, being a California resident I am glad you responded. I thought you would be able to explain it, at least now I understand why the warning. It sounds like all electrical cords probably have this, I just never noticed it before. Thanks for clearing this up.
