cutting 1/2in. oak was is the best blade to use when cutting detailed fretwork

Hey Jems, for 1/2" oak I would use either an Olsen #2R or 5R or a flying Dutchman UR 1 or FD UR3. The Flying Dutchman blades can be found at www.mikesworkshop.com. The Olsen blades can be found at Woodcraft stores or at www.sloanswoodshop.com.

I agree with dgman, but I use either the FD UR or Olsen Platinum series of blades. The platinum are still reverse tooth blades but are longer lasting and seem to stay "on line" easier. With Oak, the blade likes to follow the grain.

I use only Flying Dutchman Blades. The FD-UR No. 1 or FD-UR No. 3 will work for you. You can purchase them from Mike at

Also, Jems, slow your saw down a bit and breath. You might also want to tape your piece because oak tends to burn.
