The pattern is Steves latest. I used 3/4 Black American Walnut for the backer, 1/2 Spanish Cedar. A couple of coats of Tung Oil set the color and sealed them.

Hey DW, those look great! I have some Spanish Ceder and I find that it " bleeds" oil. I haven't used it because of it. Will it bleed after finishing?

Dan part of the reason that I use an oil is to seal the pores of the wood and to get a more uniform coloring so even if the spanish cedar would bleed a little it will not be noticed. You can always top coat it with a laquer.

I printed that one for my daughter's Christmas present. Will be cutting it next week.
Hope mine turns out ass well as yours. I am using Walnut on the backer and Maple for the cut pieces.
