At my last craft show, someone had seen woodcraft{scrollwork] and today I got an e mail to put my merchandise in a craft store with only 10 other crafters and I would be the only one with scrollwork with a space of 3'with 4 shelves in an area @ $25 per week and they will take 10% of items sold. It is only for a 5 week period. That means I would have to raise prices, which I really don't want to do. Only that I am booked for the 5 weeks doing shows, and I have never had experience in something like this, and just wondering if it would be worth it. would appreciate any comments pro or con. Thanks edward

I have done this in the past, and will be doing it again, but it's for $25 a month, plus 10%. The last time I did it I got a lot of special orders, but didn't sell much off the shelves. The owner told me I had to pay him the 10% on the special orders and when I laughed he asked me to leave.
I'll be doing it again with another local place and the lady knows that special orders are not going to be charged.
It was good for me but that's no guarantee it will be good for you.
Good luck,
Bill

The 10% is a bit greedy as you wont get much on that sized shelves, but as Bill says you may get special order, I would give it a go, have you the spare stock

My question is, if you are already committed for the next 5 weeks, will you be able to keep up with keeping those shelves stocked AND have merchandise available for your shows? Why is it only 5 weeks? I used to keep some of my stuff in a gallery that got 30% but he charged 3 times what I charged for it, so I didn't care. It didn't cost me anything to have my stuff there. I have two consignment locations and sometimes it's hard to make stuff fast enough to keep up with it. One place doesn't charge me to keep it there and they get 20%. The other charges me $40.00 a month and they get 5%.

Changed my mine on the store as I have 5 weeks of shows, coming up I don't want to deplete my inventory, as I might need it. Thanks for the comback. Edward

I think you would sell more at the shows too. 8)
