I wanted to make some Christmas Ornaments, and my pattern making skills are limited but I figured I could do some words. I actually used power point and paint to make the patterns, so I hope that the quality isn't to horrible. I hope that someone may find some use in these.
I wanted to make something that would work well with some tree limbs that I saved from a bonfire, so they are sized for that purpose.
Thanks

very Nice. what are they cut from?
-
I cut them from a tree limb. My husband cut down a tree that was threatening to fall on our house, I think it is elm but I don't know for sure. I usually check the leaves to figure out what the type of tree is but this one had none, and the bark is not much help.

Very Nice!
I hope you have some more 'limb' to play around with!
Take a look here at what I did with a couple 'rounds'...

Those are great! What a great idea! I'm curios though if the wood was dry when you cut the ornaments. If they were green, they may split and crack as they dry. I hope they will be OK.

I do have more. Whatever it is, it cuts well and was the perfect price, free!
I made a bunch of ornaments and a bowl from a larger piece.
It is fun to see it go from tree to project.
The wood was a little green. I had a couple crack and some warped in really cool ways, but most were stable. I was a little worried about what would happen but decided since I started with firewood it would be ok if they cracked and went back to the burn pile. The extra logs I have have been drying better, so should have better results if I make more.

Mrs N, Very nice. You might try putting them in the oven at about 200 degrees to finish drying them out. Really neat ornaments. I love what you did. Keep 'em coming.

julie has a good idea. Lay them on a cookie sheet and put something heavy on top of them to help keep them flat. 8)

I really like working with the wood right from the tree. We cut down a 'Flowering Crabapple' tree last year and I took some of the larger logs and painted the ends with oil based enamel and hope I can cut them down after next summer and use some of those 'rounds'. Will see but the suspense is driving me batty. Every time i pass that little pile in the corner I want to grab the chain saw and a log but have resisted so far.
