I think for the money you can't beat DeWalt. :)

My vote is the DeWalt 788 for the money

Even though the World's Greatest Wife is getting me an Excalibur, the DeWalt 788 is the best for the money, in my ever-so-humble opinion.

The DW 788 is coming out as the Delta 40-690, might get a few deals as the new line is launched.

The new delta is identical to the dewalt - but for the same money you get a stand and I believe a light.  (Issue 40 of Scrollsaw reviewed them).  I am still an Excalibur fan.

Best bet is to trial them if you can even get them to run them instore for you and crank  up the speed and see which of them vibrates

I'll stick with my Hawk.  American made and the company provides great service.

I have had two different models of the Hawk, and loved them both.  16 inch and now 26.
