Sheila the wood is Western Red (Aromatic ) Cedar. I use wood that is not clear but has knots and character in it. Besides I love the cedar smell when cut :)

Yep all done on the scroll saw. It is really rather easy cut and construct. Just a bit of cutting for the rings then stacking them in the proper order. Steve has something like this in his patterns.
