Title: Good Deal?
Post by: WigWag Workshop on October 09, 2010, 09:47:35 am
I seen this on the Harbor Freight website http://www.harborfreight.com/clearance/wooden-bridge-94704.html  - Do you think the price is worth it for the wood?  I was thinking that it would be good for some scroll saw projects?

The wood isn't going to be the greatest - you would probably do just as well in the cull bin at the local home depot and would not have to disassemble it.

I have not seen it in my HF store but I would venture to say it probably is plain old 'dimension lumber' of less than top quality.

Steven, That bridge is made with pressure treated pine. Don't cut this with you scroll saw unless you wear a respirator and gloves! This stuff can be toxic! :o :o :o

This appears to be a good deal for what it is.  If you want a decoration, it will work fine. (The manual says it's not to be walked on, stood on or used to stack items.)

When you add the shipping of $89.95 then the deal is lost.  You could buy all the wood for less than that at Home Depot.  It would cost more to cut it and put it together, but you could make one that was functional as well as decorative.
