It looks funny but I did that with a cordless drill in 2004. We had three Hurricanes hit Florida. We where without power for over a week. My wife thought it was a brilliant idea. Mashed potatoes, made pancakes, scrambled eggs. 8)

When I had my shoulder surgery that is how I mixed my BarBQue sauce in the 10 gallon pot!

It's really not very different from not wanting to hand sand everything, don't you think? As long as the batter doesn't spatter from here to yonder, it seems like a good idea to me except that I would worry about getting sawdust in the pancakes. And, of course, it is a lot easier and quicker to mix pancakes than hand sand. Just a question of degree. :)

GB - You mixed BBQ Sauce while having shoulder surgery????? You must have one heckuva patient surgeon -- Mine made me sleep during the surgery! ;D ;D ;D
