Title: General Question
Post by: WigWag Workshop on September 20, 2010, 07:38:22 pm
Good Evening Folks

I was looking at some Cuban Mahogany, the description states it comes in thickness' of 4/4, 5/4, 8/4 and 12/4 how does that translate into inches?  Is there a conversion formula? See example below

Species                       Cut          Thickness     Width    Retail    100-300 bd. ft.    Over 300
Cuban Mahogany    Flat Sawn               4/4    6" - 11"    $21.00        $20.00              $19.00

Thanks is advance for answering another newbie question,

Steven

4/4 = 1 inch
5/4 = 1 1/4 inch
8/4 = 2 inch
12/4 = 3 inch

The thickness refers to its rough sawn thickness.  8)

Each 4 is 1/4". So 4/4 is 1", 5/4 is 1-1/4", 6/4 is 1-1/2" and so on.
