Hello from Naples!
My name is Karl and I've been scrolling on and off for about 15 years. I started on a Dremel 3 1/2" scroll saw back then and "progressed" to a Pro-Tech from Scotties after short time. After that one quit, we purchased another one (I guess I'm trying to get to the ultimate yellow scroll saw) which we still have, but don't use right now. We now use an 18" Craftsman saw with the light and pump on it as well as a magnifier light and foot switch (both a tremendous blessing).
(I say "we" because my wife uses the scroll saw too and has cut out many name plates and Bible verse references. My son has begun using the saw as well and has cut out one dragon so far.)
My line of work is carpentry so I have lot's of wood (a lot)! I plane most of the wood to 1/4" or 3/8" although I have a lot still in 3/4" thickness. I recently got back into scrolling a bit more consistently and I'm trying to get a number of projects together for a horse show my daughter is going to in October. It should be inexpensive for a table.
My best, most recent purchase has been a flutter wheel from Klingspor. I never knew sanding could be so much fun and easy! (Thanks Steve for your video too.)
I've read a lot of the topics here so now I've decided to speak up! I'll post as time allows and I'll post a few of the horse related items I've scrolled in the past few weeks.
Until next time;
Karl
