The latest damage report is an estimate of 2 billion $ of damage but I think that is only the CBD area as the housing areas are wide spread down there and it will take time to get all damage reports, there is also heavy rain and winds predicted that wont help the matter, There is no reported deaths but a number of serious injuries most caused by falling debris
We are off to our daughters farm for fathers day and her birthday so wont know much more untill we are back home tonight

Thanks for the update Jimbo. Have a super day at your daughters'. As Russ said it will take a while for NZ to recover. Pray that that weather stays out.

300,000 people have been affected by the quake and 100,000 homes have been damaged, the CBD will not be open for several more days as a large percent of the buildings have been damaged, but so far the weather is holding out

Those are really some figures. All I can do at this end at the moment is to keep all those people in my prayers and all those aiding them. Thanks for the update jimbo.
