Title: patterns

I was just wondering how to make my own patterns is ther a program for it ?
I really dont have the money to start buying them, and my wife wanted to know about it too.
Any advice would be great.

Hi,

I'm no help in learning how to make your own patterns, and I understand that having to buy all of them can run into money.  However.....you're already on a great site for FREE patterns!  Steve has tons of patterns that you can download.  It's always nice to send him a donation once in a while for his efforts, but other than that, it's absolutely free.

Hope you find some things in his catalog that you'd like to make.

Yes i have tryed to send him a donation but it does not accept my credit card.
I dont use pay pal so i dont know how to send it .

There are 2 programs for free that I use all the time

GIMP  used with pictures ie jpg.  Useful for portraits and line art.

Inkscape.  Vector based.  useful word art and most patterns.

There are tutorials on Scroll Saw Village and on Scroll Saw Woodworking.

You can also get videos on YouTube.

I typed in FREE GRAPHICS EDITING PROGRAMS and found this link which
states there are 35 free graphics/photo editing programs that can be
down-loaded.

use your own judgement if you read anything that sounds interesting.
I imagine any program you use will require a learning period but, I got an old Photoshop 6
program years ago and, without a lot of studying learned  do well enough to produce some cuttable patterns.
