MAKE you hold your breath!
Those of you that would be all relaxed cutting these are my hero's - ROFL
Cutting the flat on the base of the chunk of firewood with a chop saw was one of those should I or shouldn't I moments.
-
Just love the parrot. good job!!! fun to see.
-
Very nice cutting. Really like the base on the parrot.
-
A great job on all three Jim!!
I have some of the 'Free Beer Tomorrow' signs to make for a few friends. It was good seeing how yours turned out. Well done!
Dave.

very nicely done, all of them. I too love that parrot. Great job with the chopsaw. Thanks for sharing these with us.

Dave on that sign, the "R" in free - Either I cut it short by mistake or (in my opinion) the left down stroke of the letter might just as well extend all the way down.
And the letter "W" is not connected to much of anything - be careful, I almost lost the last part of the letter when sanding
Edit: I'm looking forward to seeing your cutting of the sign, be nice to compare my 2 months experience to your expertise. So if you would post it, I would appreciate it, kind of the only way I can see for sure where I need to improve, comparing like items I mean.

Thanks to all for your kind words, I appreciate it

Hi Jim, Thanks for the heads up on the issues with your pattern. I am using a different pattern with the glass on the right hand side. I found a full picture on the web and printed it out. I then drew around the parts to cut out and got them photocopied in two different sizes. It will be a while before I can get into cutting them out as I have lots of Pen orders from one of my other hobbies, penturning.
I will post pictures of them when I am finished.

Incidentally, I only have has much experience as you and my total of scroll-sawing amounts to some Christmas decorations I cut out in December.

Nice pattern Dave, seems like the down stroke of the T is going to have the same problem.
-
I agree with you Jim. I am thinking about a backing board for the whole design to sit on. I am still working out what timber to use for both the design and the backing.
I guess I can keep thinking whilst making my pens.
Cheers mate.
Dave.

Very nice work, good going with the chop saw...it made a nice stand fof the parrot
-
Very nice! The parrot is very cool.
-
Thanks, robroy and gordster, appreciate it.
The Parrot is 5/16 thick, instead of the 1/2 or 3/4 the pattern called for. I wish I knew what kind of wood it is, I picked up some boards at an estate sale and there was a couple of them.
