Title: Sawyers' Day 2015
Post by: EIEIO on January 13, 2015, 10:29:33 am
"Sawyer"
n.noun
One that is employed in sawing wood.

Last year we started our own holiday - March 19 is Sawyers' Day. We celebrated with an exchange of hand-made items with the woodworker theme - anything related to working with wood qualifies. Ornaments, signs, bowls, utensils, boxes, tools, plaques, signs, whatever you like as long as it has a sawyer theme.

I'm inviting any forum members that would like to participate. Send me an email with your forum handle, name, address, and email. I'll make a list and send each participant a name to send to. Then start thinking about a unique way to commemorate woodworking.

I hope we have a good list of participants this year. Send your info to RMHayes@RMHayes.US. Subject = "Sawyers' Day". I'll respond so you know I got your note.

BTW - March 19 is St. Joseph's feast day - patron saint of fathers and carpenters. But mothers are more than welcome!

Bump (to keep this visible).

I've gotten a few responses to Sawyers' Day (March 19), but I was hoping for more. This is a chance to polish your skills between the Christmas and craft show seasons and celebrate our own holiday. It's cold out there for a lot of us, but that just makes it a little more special. I hope you'll consider participating.

I'm a total NEWBIE, (still waiting for my saw to arrive!) and living in the UK....but if there are any other UK participants, count me in!  The cost of international shipping is rather prohibitive for me to send anything to other countries.   ;)

I'll be sending grab bag mates on Thursday Feb 19 (one month before Sawyers' Day 2015). If you'd like to participate, email me (see instructions earlier in this thread).

If anyone else on the list did not see the email, please check your junk folder. If it's still missing, let me know and I'll re-send.
