Title: Bulldog
Post by: sp_343 on July 15, 2010, 11:29:58 am
A Pine plaque with a relief cut middle.  University of Minnesota @ Duluth "Bulldog's" logo cut into it.  Not my alma mater...for a family friend.

Janet:  I drilled the entry hole and set the scroll table at 2 degrees.  Then relief cut out the middle, took it out...worked on the outside part (sanding, routing, staining, etc...) and cut the design into the middle.  Put the two pieces together with some glue and finished it with some spray poly.

I like the way the relief cut plaques turn out.  Gives it the 3-D look and easy to do.

That looks really great!  So then the light colored bulldog part is actually set back from the darker frame??
hard to tell in the picture.

The pic is bad for this...the light part is actually pushed out to the front and is about 1/4" higher than the back part.  This is a pic of the Barney Fife plaque I cut...same method used.
