Title: Need A Pattern Critique
Post by: pddesertrat on August 14, 2014, 11:36:48 am
A friend had to put his faithful friend down a little while back.  I thought I'd try to make him something as a memorial.  This is my first attempt at pattern making and I'd like some critiques from the pattern makers here.  This is a picture of the subject:

This is my attempt:

PD - your pattern looks very good. For the attached I just took yours and ran it through Inkscape and simplified.

Thanks for the input and the examples on how to make it better.  I did mine with Gimp.  I have Inkscape but have not played with it yet.  I will work on it some more, this is practice so I want to keep playing with it.

Ha Paul
that's a great first attempt, as you can see by Rays example, taking it through inkscape to trace the bitmap makes all the difference and of course allows you to change the outline colour to red. The only thing I would say is to work on those islands a bit.
But yes excellent work,I have only been making patterns for about 2 years and that was all from the help of the members on this site, so keep it up and keep asking.
