This is a little project I made for a good friend of mine. The hardest part of making this project were the little Moose emblems on the sides of the stand. They ended up being 2"x 2 1/4". Base is made of Red Oak and the emblems are made of Poplar. The red of the Oak and the golden hue of the Poplar go very well together. The Antler was completely bleached white from being in the elements and rodents had chewed off an Antler point pretty bad. I rebuilt the damaged point, and used 5 different colors of stain to achieve a more natural color. Oak is finished in Danish Oil and the Poplar was sealed with a water base Poly. My wife's finger is in the shot for scale. LOL
I have had several requests to make more of these, so I think I will be busy for a while.

Very nicely done. What an unusual project. I like that you were cutting the antler. Would love to see a series of work in progress pics on one of those that would be so neat. Thanks for sharing this with us!
