Our local shop started selling Valentines Day Pasties this morning lol....

Pasties (sing. 'pasty') are patches that cover a woman's nipples.

Marcel, they are made with meat and veg, the original ones were taken down the mines by the miners, they were divided into 2 sections inside the pasty. The first side was the meat and veg, and the other side was usually a fruit with custard. The miners held them by the extra large crust around one side and ate the meat side first then the fruity side before throwing the crust away. There was nowhere to wash hands down the mines so the idea was a crust to hols on to, so the rest didn't get dirty. Here is a little about them and the recipe.
