Well after months of deliberation and undecided on what to do, I just placed my order for a new DW788. After reading many many posts from others on problems they have had and solutions and fixes I hope that first of all I won't have any problems, but if I do I can find a cure or fix to any. My debate for so long was on waiting until I could get the EX21 but it was decided that for the amount of time I spend now it was hard to justify the extra money. It seems like there are many among us that are more than happy with their 788 and yes a few frustrated with problems but I am keeping faith that I will be one of the many that is happy happy happy with my purchase. ;D

The other thing that prompted my decision to order now was that after my last two projects when I would quit cutting my hands were almost numb from the vibration I was getting off the saw. I think over the years I have adjusted my cutting to compensate for the vibration and extra play. After all I did buy my current saw, a Craftsman, used and it was a huge step up from the cheapo I had before so I would probably say I have gotten my moneys worth out of it. :)

I used to scroll with an old Craftsman and the vibration made scrolling not very fun after a while. When it unfortunately broke and couldn't buy the parts anymore for it, I decided to get the DW788. I am very pleased with it and all the work it has done. Almost zero vibration. I also ordered the Easy Lift system when I ordered my saw, so they would both get there at the same time. Then I was in heaven with scrolling.

I'm glad to hear that. I am excited to get it so I can see what the difference is.

I've had three scroll saws.......Cheap "Tradesman" ($100.00) lasted a year. Moved up to a "Dremel" ($200.00) lasted two years. Finally bought a "DeWalt" ($450.00) and have been using it for five years without a problem. So far, I haven't had a desire or need to get rid of the DW and don't plan on doing so.
Hope you have the same results with yours. Happy scrolling!
