Title: vase from Steve (WIP)
Post by: Marcellarius on May 10, 2013, 04:26:01 am
made the vase from Steve's pattern.
slightly changed the pattern at the bottom. (left over from the top section...)
made from pine.
gonna finish it with polyurethane.
will start with a 10/90 BLO/mineral spirit, then a 30/30/30 BLO/MS/PU
and the inside Will get a few PU layers to make it waterproof.

Looks nice.  Do you recall the name of the pattern?  What type of wood did you use?

Thanks for sharing.

Very nice looking vase Marcel! Be advised, polyurethane will not make the inside waterproof for very long. Water will eventually penetrate the poly. I would Use a two part epoxy for that.

thanks Dan, went to the paint store and asked if the poly was ok for it and they said it was.....
they use the poly on wooden boats as well.
now you say this I might consider buying some.
guess my wife wont put on flowers for weeks right, just a couple of days.
let you know
