Merlin, in simplest terms, partitioning divides a drive into sections. This is normally done when setting up a brand new hard drive, or one that has been completely cleaned off and has no data on it (I do this about every 6 months to keep my 10 year old computer running fine). If you bought your computer with Windows already loaded, you don't need to worry about partitioning, as it was already done for you. Not really something that should be messed with if you don't know what you're doing, because if you delete the wrong partition, or overwrite an existing one, you will lose every bit of data on that drive. Nothing to be gained by doing it once the drive is already in use.
Hope this helps!

Ta for that reply, what I wanted to do was partition the H/drive for a legal copy of vista Home premium.
I have Win 7 and it apparently not legal. Then I could run them side by side until I figure out a few settings then get rid of the Win 7, and the annoying popup illegal notices.

I can tell you it CAN be done, as I run Win XP and Linux on my system. I won't try to tell you how to do it on Win 7, because I don't have it. I'm sure someone on here knows proper win7 procedure!
Good Luck!

Thanks Glen I have figured it out and have the partition made and both systems are running ok.
Just have to get online with Vista, probably have to phone the isp again, can never remember the settings. ;D
