Title: Hello From Eastern Wisconsin
Post by: LokisTyro on April 18, 2013, 12:01:39 am
Hello, everyone! My name is Andy. I'm 28 and I've finally acquired my first scrollsaw. It's honestly a hunk of junk! It is labeled as a Central Machinery jobber with a model number that the internet doesn't even recognize. But I'm so excited about finally having one I don't care. I need to make a few modifications for it to work a little better, bend a thing or two and use some shim-stock here and there but for 18 dollars and change I really can't complain since I'm a beginner and it does cut wood and I'm just learning the basics. I've started out by practicing a pattern for a cone speaker from the Hobbies archive and I have a few practice lines that I'll work on also. I've always admired others use of the scrollsaw and now I can soon be proud of my own :) Anyway, I'm glad to be here and I'd like to thank Steve G. for offering so many fine patterns to the public, how awesome is that. I hope to contribute across the board and offer some of my own patterns to whomever as soon as I can find the "off" button on this thing  :D Nice to meet you all!

Thanks for the welcome, Gramps.

I'm not too far from Port Washington myself. I live outside of Oostburg, about 15 miles north of Port. We must be pretty close.

Hi Andy, I am Jeff44 from Georgia, welcome aboard.  My first scrollsaw was a Central machinery, I still have and it still works.  I just use it for heavy duty work, like cutting Teak.

Hi Andy and welcome to the forum.  I'm Julie from Texas.  Glad to have you.  A lot of us started on less than desirable machines.  It makes that step up so much sweeter.

Hi Andy, I grew up around the Union Grove area and currently live near PdC 10 min. from the Mississippi.  Welcome aboard, after 2 years I upgraded my not so good saw to a Dewalt, haven't the heart to get rid of the old one yet tho, it's kinda like an old friend.  Can't wait to see some of your finished projects.

Pete
