This is one handy link to bookmark. When trying to decide what glue to use for different mediums. It is simple to use. Give it a try.
Gluing This to that (http://www.thistothat.com/cgi-bin/glue.cgi?lang=en&this=Glass&that=Wood)
I repaired the link sorry bout that!

great find, thanks.
only thing that's missing in the list is paint.
should I use plastic or vinyl for that?
I once called a paint/stain company Rambo (http://www.rambo.nl/) and asked them what is the best glue to use when gluing two painted parts together.
they never had thought of that question......
they think about the adhesive of the paint on the wood but then......

I do not think it is advisable to glue two painted surfaces together, it will not be a very strong bond.
