My wife had her prescription for metformin adjusted from 500mg to 1000mg. She was paying about $18 for a 3 month supply. The bill for the new prescription was well over $2200.00 - Yes that is correct Two thousand two hundred and change. That was at Walmart where everything is supposed to be cheaper. Hate to see the price at one of the chain drug stores. Needless to say we did not purchase and have calls in to the insurance and the doctor. Some folks call me Bill, but the last name is not Gates!

Methinks there was an "oops" somewhere in the spelling, quantity, something. Just saying as I use metformin also.
Best of Luck Bill

My wife uses it and its only about 10 bucks for a months supply, there has to be a mistake somewhere.

I think you just saw the pre-insurnace cost.. I'm on Metformin, and 2 types of insulin.. I get 3 month supplies as well and the pre-insurance cost is well over $2,000 each. My portion still runs a couple hundred out of pocket.
I'd have Walmart make sure they applied this to your insurance

Maybe they thought you were ordering 22 ammunition?

I take 2000 mg of metformin daily and some groceries and pharmacies here provide it free. Publix grocery is my pharmacy of choice and doesn't charge a dime for it.

On one of my previous post I said that I wanted to move to America, cancel that you medication cost are tooooooooooo high for me.

I also think there is a HUGE mistake somewhere. We should get some answers today and I will update.

I too take Metformum but I am on Tricare for Life and use Express Scripts mail order and It is generic and is free for me. That has to be preinsurance cost.
-
Keep the old prescription and take two a day. Wouldn't that work?
-
Big mistake somewhere as my wife takes metformin and thank God it is no where near that price.
-
Well I am sure it was a mistake, however it has not been corrected. The Dr changed the prescription to 2, 500 mg tablets and the price is now back to about 15 a month. The 1000 mg is still 2200+. Political statement. Still have not heard from the insurance folks and had to call the pharmacy after they promised to call us. I think the new motto is Profit before service ALWAYS!
