Title: Free snow shoveling clinic
Post by: Mainewoods on February 09, 2013, 09:38:45 pm
Free of charge

This clinic is open to all!  We will cover the basics of pushing, scooping and throwing snow.  Methods for clearing decks, walkways and driveways will be discussed.  We will provide shovels, however, to ensure everyone gets as much practice as possible, attendees are encouraged to bring their own.  There will be a brief (extremely brief) classroom session, then it's outside to practice the techniques.  Lots and lots of practice!

There is no clinic schedule, as attendance will be on a "come when you can" basis.

Certificates of attendance will be given to all attendees.

Anyone wishing to attend may contact me on this forum.

I miss snow sometimes.   I don't miss the snow plow driver that made it his job to push snow back into my driveway the moment that I finished shoveling.

when I was working I worked for a company that made compact roadsweepers and winter maintenance equipment, one thing they made would have helped you immensely, it was a snow cutter/blower about the size of a medium sized lawnmower. it would cut into the snow and blow it through an adjustable nozzle about 30 feet.

I think I have one of those, but it only blows about 10 feet depending on the wind direction. Some times it blows back on ya >:( >:(

When I was a senior in High School, my neighbor and I used to have Snowblower fights.    The goal was to maneuver behind the other guy and let them have it with the blower.   We both had cabs on our walk behind blowers, but the backs were open.   I sure was happy when dad upgraded our old Arens blower for a much more powerful and much faster unit.    Lots of fun...

The last time it snowed here my wife cautioned me not to over do it shoveling the walk.  She left and went to town. A couple of the neighborhood youngsters came by with snow shovels, so I hired them to do our 16' by 4' walk. We had almost and inch of snow so I paid them $50.00 each. After they were done I invited them in to warm up and even sent them away wit a cup of hot chocolate. My wife was very upset when she found out.  Did I pay too much?  Here are a couple of picture i snapped of the little darlings.

Marcel, I stopped by your place and honked and honked, but nobody came out!  I think I saw someone peeking at me through the curtains though!   ??? ;)  The polizei came and told me to stop, and suggested I leave the area entirely, so I won't be back to pick you up!  Thanks for volunteering though!!

Today was what I call a BONUS Day.  64 F and I worked in the shop all day with the doors open. I do appreciate days like this. spent most of my time cleaning and found a light coat of rust on my band saw table. Last time I used it, I cleaned it very good, and put 2 coats of paste wax on the table.  I keep it covered with a bed sheet cover my wife made. Only thing I can figure is its the c0ver. Other tools stay uncovered most of the time and no poblem. Plan on working on it tomorrow. On another note, I tried to hire the "kids" again today to swpeep the shop but ran into  a slight problem.  Wife told me to Go Ahead!!!   All I can say is

Semper in excretia sumus solim profundum variat
