After seeing Steve Good's iPod 5 docking station I decided to make one for my iPod Touch. Great project to make from some scraps. One thing I didn't want to do is glue my USB cable to the docking station, so I thought I'd try something a little different. I put some small blocks on the bottom of the slot where the cable goes through to support the connector from the bottom. The real challenge was keeping the connector/cable in place when I removed the iPod. I drilled a small hole and used a small wood screw to clamp it. So far it seems like it will work. Over time the screw will probably come loose. If I do this again, I'll look for some hardware to glue in the hole then put the screw in.
There's no finish on it. It's made from cherry.
Thanks for looking.

Looks really good, like the way you modified it to suit your needs.

Does the screw go into the ipod? Thanks for sharing with us.

The screw does not go into the iPod or the connector. It just puts pressure on the connector to keep it from sliding out when you remove the iPod. I use a USB cable and made it so if I need, I can loosen the screw and pull the cable out through the top.
